Cost of hiring confinement nanny includes the following items:

1. Red packet or ang pow. Two red packets will be needed. Total amount will be about $240 dollars. 

2. Extra fee for festival season: This is the fee when your confinement falls on festival season such as Chinese New Year. The extra fee will be more than $500. 

3. Basic pay: This forms the biggest part of the total cost. It will range from $2300 to $2600. For experienced confinement nanny, this will go up to between $3000 to $4000. Exact fee will also depend on the job scope of the confinement nanny.

4. Daily expense: meals, toiletries, water and electricity. This could cost you at least $500. 

5. Fee for work permit: if you hire a Malaysian confinement nanny, you will need to apply a work permit for her. The administrative fee will be about $30. Please note that it is illegal for a Malaysian to work as a confinement nanny under social visit pass. 

6. Levy for confinement nanny: you will need to pay $60 as levy for confinement nanny. For non-Singaporean employer, this cost can go up to $265 per month. 

7. Agency fee: this is usually included in the package of service if you hire a confinement nanny agency. 

8. Medical insurance: It is compulsory as stated in the Ministry of Manpower. 

9. Medical checkup: this is optional. It will costs more than $200 if you want your confinement nanny to go through medical checkup. 

As can be seen, there is a lot of extra cost to hire a foreign confinement nanny, but this does not mean that it is cheaper to get a local. Local will charge more for basic pay and it is hard to find one.
